The challenge was to promote travel and tourism in Virginia without diminishing the equity in the memorable “Virginia is for Lovers” theme. Puckett lead the team to a campaign that was not only a call to action but served up all the aspects of Virginia’s romantic personality. “Meet Virginia” was born. The campaign was embraced and supported by the Virginia Tourism marketing team who contributed significantly to its success by demanding excellence without compromise in all areas of marketing. The “Meet Virginia” campaign was voted top campaign of the year by every state in the country and received the 2004 ESTO award. The honor of a 2005 bronze Effie has also underscored its effectiveness.
